Vannessa Barnier has over eight years of experience in the book publishing industry, having worked for trade and academic publishers, national literary associations, and internationally acclaimed comic, book, and magazine festivals. Vannessa regularly teaches writing workshops, hosts open mic poetry readings, and holds academic appointments as a first reader and literary adjudicator for various publications and granting bodies in Ontario. Successful in grant writing, Vannessa has received funding from the Toronto Arts Council, Ontario Arts Council and Canada Council for the Arts, facilitating the creation of experimental poetry and short stories. When not encompassed by the literary world, Vannessa has a pottery practice.

Vannessa Barnier is a Toronto-based poet, collaborator, facilitator, instigator, and community organizer. Vannessa facilitates writing workshops, hosts the open mic series, Legible Intelligibles – a summer open mic poetry reading series in the park – and is the author of SAMPLE PLATTER (Gap Riot Press, 2021).
